Exhibition premiere in Venice
The City | Data | Future exhibition is the result of work that has been carried out over the two-year duration of the UrbanIxD project, in particular the work of the UrbanIxD Summer School held in 2013.
In September 2014 (24.9.– 7.10.) the exhibition was hosted at the Telecom Italia Future Centre, in Venice, Italy, alongside a one-day symposium that explored the themes of the UrbanIxD project.
The exhibition was officially launched at a reception hosted by; AU Smart Cities / Aarhus Universitet, The Architecture Project / and+, and the Media Architecture Biennale 2014. The involvement of these partners was particularly welcomed as the exhibition travelled to Denmark in November as part of the Media Architecture Biennale.
We were also pleased to host an appearance at the reception by the Urballoon, a project by Carlos J. Gómez de Llarena, a Venezuelan media architect and interaction designer. This helium-filled balloon projected real-time social media streams onto the courtyard of the Future Centre. The project seeks to present our online communication back onto the street as a reimagined urban experience, stressing the role that the city has as an interface for daily life.
